Road to Tryouts Final: Preparing for the Tryouts!
Hello Ultimate Frisbee Players!
After choosing a club to go for their tryouts, some of you would wonder, "how do I get ready for this tryouts?" Here are some training that I applied while preparing for the upcoming tryout that I am going for!
School/Club Training
If you are in a school team, go for it! School or Club trainings offer an important and critical avenue for you to build up your on-field and skills training for ultimate frisbee! This is because these trainings focuses on repetition and situation training, which is integral towards mastery of ultimate skills that people are looking for during tryouts! It allow trains your tactical awareness up as well
If you don't have a school or club to train with yet (like me), do go for pickups to get a general feel of how a game is played. Also, pickups allow you to make mistakes, allowing you to improve on your good points and possibly things to work on before the upcoming tryouts!
Physical Training
Besides pickups, physical training is important as well! Physical training builds up on endurance, speed and many more phyiscal aspects that are crucial in a game of ultimate! Check out my post on physical training over here!
Practising Throws
It is important to have a habit of throwing to improve your throws! Clubs are looking for people who are comfortable with their throws and able to throw what they want to where they want most of the time! Take about 20-30 minutes each day to throw!
Visualisation
Other that physical training, mental training is important as well! Visualisation of how you catch a throw or when you execute a throw would help a lot in the physical execution and mastery of the respective actions!
A recent article showed that students who visualised throwing free throws performed just as well as those who practised throwing free throws! (Check out the article here!)
That being said, do not ignore the physical aspect of training! Do both to get more results out of preparing for the tryouts!
With that, what is left would be to survive the tryouts!
