What is Ultimate Frisbee to you?
Hello Ultimate Frisbee Players!
Welcome to the next phase of my blog where I am going to talk about in depth stuff about Ultimate Frisbee! To people that are new or just began playing Ultimate Frisbee, check out my previous post on things such as where to play Ultimate Frisbee or tips on how to improve one's throws! To the people who followed me there and then:
During the Ultimate Frisbee season, you can see many players on the field, each with their different expectations and attitude towards the sport of Ultimate Frisbee. All these are centred around 1 main question, "What is Ultimate Frisbee to me?" . This question moulds how one plays and work towards the sport itself and the possibilities are endless! So today, we are going to look at some main motivation towards Ultimate Frisbee.
Ultimate Frisbee is a sport to me.
Ultimate Frisbee is in essence a sport by itself. It comes with glory and fame, in the form of winning tournaments or representing one's country to play against other teams from around the world. There are people who are in the sport for these objectives, and train at all costs to be in a top-tier team.

Ultimate Frisbee is something I play as a team.
Ultimate Frisbee is a team sport, and the team usually extends beyond the tournaments and competitions. The team does everything together - eating, training, sharing losses and victories etc. all these a forms a bond, a connection between team members that is very hard to break and it lasts for a long time. It pushes the individual to do things possibly beyond his percieved abilities as your team mates' dreams and aspirations become part of yours to control as well. The team drives the individual, which in turn drives the team. I have friends who did not want to play Ultimate Frisbee after graduation previously, but have went on to become happy and valuable players to the team they are playing with.

Ultimate Frisbee is a part of my life.
The tingling of your fingers when you have not touched the disc a day after playing. The urge to throw whenever you see a disc. These are a few signs that Ultimate Frisbee has become an indispensable part in one's daily life. the passion of pursuing Ultimate Frisbee becomes one of your life goals. A relationship with Ultimate Frisbee lasts for a very long time. This was partially the reason why I decided to do a blog on Ultimate Frisbee. I do not have a team right now, hence I convert this energy towards keeping myself competitvely relevant while promoting the sport at the same time. A friend did ask me before how long would I last, as age, injuries and other life goals such as building a career and raising a family would eventually creep up to me. To me, Disc is life, as simple an answer as it can be :)
Ultimate Frisbee is a very fascinating sport. It make you laugh and cry at times, allows people to do amazing things with it. Last but not least, it allows so many people to have a nice time with just one piece of plastic.
How about you? what is Ultimate Frisbee to you?
